Weight loss always seems to be easy at first. I am sure you can relate. At the beginning of any weight loss journey, all of your efforts and hard work really seem to pay off. Everyone gives you compliments and let you know how great you are looking these days. The beginning of your weight loss journey has you flying on cloud 9. Would you agree?
Then, it happens! The inevitable weight loss plateau appears out of nowhere. I mean you have taken the time to make New Year’s Resolutions, purchased a new gym membership, changed eating and drinking habits, exercised daily, took long walks after dinner, tracked your food and exercise, etc., but when you get on the scale the numbers stayed the same!
Where do you go from here? Well, I have some suggestions that will have you kicking that weight loss plateau out of your life for good.
First, adjust your calorie intake. Remember, as you lose weight, your metabolism can drop so take some time to revise your calorie goal.
Second, focus on food quality. Eat plenty of whole foods, such as beans, veggies, high-fiber fruits, and lean protein.
Third, rotate your daily workout routine and add HIIT. HIIT is high intense interval training that will help you shed those unwanted pounds for good.
Fourth, know your numbers. Schedule a visit with your doctor to have blood work done and rule out any medical issues that could be hindering your weight loss.
Fifth, get plenty of sleep every night. A full night’s sleep is vital to losing body fat because it resets your hormones.
Sixth, flush out your body by drinking plenty of water. Remember, symptoms of dehydration are similar to symptoms of hunger so be sure to drink at least 64 ounces of water per day.
Seventh, increase strength training. It’s simple, the more muscle you create, the more calories you burn, then the more fat you shed.
Well, what are you waiting for? Let’s readjust our daily weight loss routine and make lifestyle changes that will get rid of the weight loss plateau forever!
